VIDEO: Injured players, T. Boone Pickens at practice

Injured players Courtney Upshaw, Marcell Dareus, D.J. Fluker and Julio Jones practice Monday afternoon. As you will see, they have varying degrees of effectiveness coming off Saturday’s game.

At the end, see billionaire T. Boone Pickens’ motorcade pull out of the football complex after taking in a few minutes of the Crimson Tide workout.

Monday update from Tuscaloosa

It’s Monday! Time to clean up the final thoughts on Alabama’s 23-10 win over Ole Miss and think a little bit about this Saturday’s visit to Knoxville for one of those rivalry games. Here we go.

  • There was plenty of talk about what ills the Crimson Tide offense, specifically the running game. It will be addressed in the coming days. (I can’t blow all the scoops in one post)
  • There are a lot of nagging injuries that will keep players from practicing today, Nick Saban said. The list of the wounded included DeQuan Menzie, DeMarcus Milliner and Courtney Upshaw.
  • That doesn’t include D.J. Fluker who is still “questionable” for the Tennessee game with the groin injury suffered against South Carolina.
  • Fluker’s replacement at right tackle, Alfred McCullough of Athens, was named co-offensive player of the week in the first start of his career.
  • The good laugh of the news conference came when Saban was asked if he saw the telecast of Saturday’s homecoming parade in which his wife Terry Saban was a co-host.  He bashfully admitted he did not see it and admitted that would probably cause trouble for him later.
  • It was relatively slow compared to the Monday before Tennessee visited Tuscaloosa last year when Lane Kiffin was making noise about wearing orange uniforms in Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Check back later for some practice video.
