Welcome to the Georgia Dome (take 2)

For the second time this season, the Bama Blog is coming to you live from the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. This time, it’s for the SEC Championship (a.k.a. the biggest game ever played in the history of humanity).

The gates are about to open to the shivering masses outside the chilly dome. The press box is filling up with all the big names in attendance.

Stay tuned for updates as they come available.

(Deep breath) What a night

So the 2009 season got off to a quick and sometimes surprising start for Alabama. Know I’m left rubbing the sleep out of my eyes in an Atlanta hotel room. What a first night of the season.

The energy in the Atlanta Dome was electric. That place can really hold noise.

Looking back at the game, several beat writers agreed it was a strange one. Trying to write a running game story was feudal since the theme kept changing and the rhythm was helter skelter.

Know Alabama has a few weeks to refine its game before hitting SEC play. Oklahoma’s loss will move the Tide up to the No. 4 spot in the polls.

So what did you think of the game. Leave a comment and give your view.

SEC Championship Game staying in Georgia Dome through 2015

The Southeastern Conference and the Georgia Dome will remain partners for five more years. The league just announced a new five-year deal to keep the title game in Atlanta through the 2015 season.

The big game has been played on that field since 1994 and Alabama has won one championship there (1999) with the other coming in 1992 when the inaugural game was played in Birmingham’s Legion Field
