LSU game time set for …

… 2:30 p.m. CDT, as just announced by UA. The game will be the fourth of Alabama’s that landed on the prime CBS television slot.

Of course the Crimson Tide will stay away from the competition field this Saturday as the bye week landed on Halloween Saturday.

According to the Alabama release: Other SEC games to be televised on Saturday, November 7, include South Carolina at Arkansas (11:21 a.m. CDT on the SEC Network), Memphis at Tennessee (6 p.m. CDT on ESPNU), Vanderbilt at Florida (6:15 p.m. CDT on ESPN or ESPN2) and Northern Arizona at Mississippi (6:30 p.m. CDT on CSS).

On a side note, Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen also got reprimanded by the SEC today for complaining about officiating.

MEDIA DAY 1: Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen speaks

Round 3 brings Mississippi State’s Dan Mullen to the mic. (Photo courtesy of the Associated Press) Here’s a taste of what he new guy said.

  • He’d like to make Starkville one of the toughest destinations in the SEC. He’s got a lot of work to do before achieving that.
  • Jackson State will be his first opponent and Mullen said he put the pressure on his band director because the SWAC school is well known for its band.
  • Expect a spread offense that will force defense to cover every bit of turf “sideline to sideline.”
  • “The excitement for our program has been off the charts.”
  • He answers questions with a few hundred words making him by far the most talkative of the three coaches to speak thus far.
  • From Urban Meyer, Mullen brought the attitude training to Starkville. Remember, Mullen was an assistant at Florida.
  • “You win a lot of games at 5:45 in the morning in February.”
  • “Meeting Urban Meyer is no big deal. I’ve had to put up with him for years.”
  • “I’m the only undefeated coach in the league … I’d love to be able to come back next year and say the same thing.”
  • “You have to game plan for players some times, not just schemes.”
  • As you can see in the photo, Mullen just looks like a football coach. It’s hard to say exactly what that means, but he just projects that image.
  • On the Tebow snub:”Believe it or not, I voted for Tim Tebow.” That makes three coaches who claim they were not the one who voted against Tebow.
  • Vote on the poll.
  • When facing Meyer and Florida, Mullen said he was going to have to make sure he changed all his signals and will check and see if Meyer does the same.
  • On Tebow: “I have more respect for him than probably anybody else in my life.”
