In a release just sent out by the university, Phil Savage was selected to be the new color analyst for Alabama football radio broadcasts. The former Cleveland Browns general manager will replace Ken Stabler.
Savage was in the booth with Eli Gold for the A-Day game, and apparently did a heckuva job.
Read more in Tuesday’s Daily, but Savage took the non-traditional route to the broadcast booth. He was the Browns’ GM from 2005-08. He also worked in the front offices for the Baltimore Ravens and the San Antonio Riders of the World Football League.
The Mobile native played football and baseball at Murphy High School. He also spent three seasons as a graduate assistant at Alabama under coach Bill Curry.
His first game is just 82 days away, according to the countdown clock at the top left-hand side of the homepage.
