Michigan pumped to open season with Tide, close to taking ticket orders

Let the countdown begin. We’re closing in on t-minus 8 months from kicking off the 2012 college football season with two BCS bowl winners Sept. 1 in Dallas. It’s Alabama vs. Michigan and the Wolverine faithful is already jacked up for this one.

The official athletics website at Michigan says demand for tickets to the game played in Dallas is high enough to begin taking ticket orders soon.

“Everywhere I go people ask me about the availability of tickets to this game so I anticipate a large Michigan contingent will be attending this historic game between two of college football’s most tradition-laden programs,” Michigan athletics director Dave Brandon said in this news release.

Michigan won the Sugar Bowl over Virginia Tech on the same Superdome plastic grass used by Alabama to win the BCS title game over LSU six days later.

The first phase of tickets applications for the Michigan seating block will be accepted Jan. 30 and progress from there.

Michigan’s release also includes ticket prices that look similar to those charged at BCS games. They range from $125 to $285, according to Michigan’s release.
