Just two days after winning the BCS national title, the offseason is officially here. Let the shuffling begin.
Alabama is already looking for a new offensive coordinator to replace Jim McElwain. Now linebackers coach Sal Sunseri is reportedly a top candidate for a job at one of the Tide’s top rivals.
Click here for the story in the Knoxville News-Sentinel citing sources that put Sunseri near to top of the wishlist for the Tennessee defensive coordinator job. The Tide linebackers coach has been in Tuscaloosa three seasons and is the father of Alabama safety Vinnie Sunseri.
At least recently, the Vol athletic department and football program has looked to Alabama to make hires.
Former Tide assistant Lance Thompson is still the defensive line coach and an ex-Alabama defensive lineman just signed with the Vols. Darrington Sentimore, who left Tuscaloosa for junior college over the summer, will be with Tennessee in the fall.
Dave Hart was the No. 2 in the UA behind Mal Moore before Tennessee brought him in as athletics director. Former Tide compliance director Mike Ward also took a position after Hart left.
