Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart isn’t scared to take a head coaching job. He’s just waiting for the right one.
“I’m completely happy at the University of Alabama being the defensive coordinator,” he said today. “It’s the greatest non-head coach job in the country and it’s a great place to be. Great players here. Great support system.”
Kirby’s reluctance to take move onto a head coaching job led to the next logical question. But he quickly dismissed any notion of a head coach-in-waiting situation at Alabama.
“I don’t think it’s worked anywhere anybody’s done it, and that’s not something I even worry about to be honest with you,” he said.
