Forbes ranks Alabama in top 10 of most valuable college football programs

Enough of this vacation time. Let’s get back to work.

A story in today’s USA Today caught my eye since it involves my favorite subject. The business of college sports should be fascinating to everybody.

Well, the folks at Forbes released its list of the top 10 most valuable college football programs. And Alabama predictably made the list. Just consider all the revenue streams in play.

The Crimson Tide ranks No. 6 on the list with a profit of $45 million — well behind top-dog Texas who cleared $71 last year according to documents obtained through freedom of information requests.

LSU tops Alabama at No. 4 with $47 million in profit while Auburn is ninth with $37 million.
