School is out, but it’s back to work for the Alabama football team this afternoon in Tuscaloosa. Read all about it in print today:
TUSCALOOSA — It’s been 23 days since Alabama last saw a football field.
That streak ends today when the second-ranked Crimson Tide’s preparations begin for the Jan. 9 BCS title game with top-ranked LSU.
Alabama has scheduled a week of workouts for Tuscaloosa before taking a few days to celebrate the holidays.
“Then (the team will) come back and practice another four or five practices after Christmas,” Alabama coach Nick Saban said. “And then get into our regular work week for the game itself even though we may not be able to travel to the game until Jan. 4, which would be sort of in the work week. We’ll just go ahead and (practice) in Tuscaloosa and use our facilities.”
The No. 1 Bengal Tigers resumed practices Thursday, fewer than two weeks after beating Georgia on Dec. 3 in the SEC Championship Game. Last week’s exercises were more about getting back to speed. A few more this week will be more concentrated.
