While waiting for our afternoon interviews with the Heisman finalists, I visited the hallow ground of lower Manhattan where the World Trade Center towers once stood.
The full memorial is still under construction, but the two reflecting pools where the towers stood are breathtaking. I remember visiting that same site in July, 2001 without a clue in the world.
It was especially emotional when a lady walked by in tears holding the hands of two loved ones. One could only imagine her story.
