Alabama loses second straight basketball game

The first true road game of the season resulted in Alabama’s second consecutive loss. After winning three games in Puerto Rico, the No. 16 Crimson Tide fell 74-62 at Dayton on Wednesday night.

Trailing by as many as 17 points in the second half, Alabama (7-2) cut the lead down to four midway through the period.

But Dayton, the alma mater of Tide coach Anthony Grant, shot its way out of a hole from the perimeter down the stretch.

Tony Mitchell led the Tide with 18 points. The loss was Alabama’s second straight after falling to Georgetown 57-55 last Thursday in Coleman Coliseum.

The Tide returns to Coleman Coliseum for a Sunday afternoon game with Detroit.

  1. High hopes were nice while they lasted.

  2. I think we have the depth to deal with this. We weren’t going through the season undefeated. We’ve got to learn to play against zone defenses and shoot over them. I think we will. It’s a long season but we’ve already got a leg up with some good wins already. As long as we continue to play good defense, we’ve got a chance in every game.
