Take a look at my weekly Inside Alabama column as it ran in today’s newspaper:
AUBURN — Pure joy isn’t easily captured in print.
This keyboard just doesn’t have the tools necessary for describing the scene in that back corner of Jordan-Hare Stadium early Saturday evening. Alabama cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick is a fan favorite in celebrations such as the emotion explosion following the Crimson Tide’s 42-14 win over Auburn.
But there was a strong offensive presence in the mayhem. Why not?
After taking a beating physically and psychologically in a touchdown-less loss to No. 1 LSU three weeks ago, the Alabama offense made its statement in the archenemy’s yard. While its defensive counterpart played up to its heavy-handed reputation, AJ McCarron and company rid themselves of a few demons.
“Unbelievable,” Tide center William Vlachos said. “This being my last Iron Bowl at Auburn and running the ball the way we did, you can’t really explain it right now.”
But before pounding away the second half, Alabama took advantage of an Auburn defense keyed on running back Trent Richardson.
