That’s one way of saying Trent Richardson was named SEC offensive player of the week for his record-setting night.
The junior running back slugged his was to a career-best 2o3 yards in the 42-14 beating of Auburn in Jordan-Hare Stadium. He didn’t run for a touchdown, but he caught one on a 5-yard pass strangely similar to the one Roy Upchurch caught in the same end zone to win the 2009 Iron Bowl.
South Carolina’s Conner Shaw shared the award with the Gamecocks win over Clemson on Saturday.
Also, Alabama center William Vlachos was named offensive lineman of the week for earning a 97 in the coaches grading — the highest for anyone on the line.
LSU’s Tyrann Mathieu was the defensive player of the week by forcing two fumbles and returning a punt for a touchdown in the Tigers’ 41-17 pounding of No. 3 Arkansas.
I have a feeling Richardson and Mathieu will meet again soon. That should be entertaining.
