Oh, no, Josh Chapman wasn’t missing this one.
Alabama’s starting nose tackle, he even sat out senior day Saturday to make sure his “banged up” knee was fresh for Saturday.
It’s the Iron Bowl. Nothing else matters.
“Oh, I will be on the field this week,” Chapman said, “Live and in color.”
The fifth-year senior is one of many Crimson Tide players dealing with even more physical issues than normal entering the Saturday trip to Auburn. Precautions kept left tackle Barrett Jones and receiver Darius Hanks from playing in last week’s 45-21 win over Georgia Southern.
This isn’t unusual for Alabama this season, which has survived injuries to remain in the hunt for the BCS National Championship Game. Six starters have missed action at some point in the season, including four last week, while linebacker Alex Watkins played the past three weeks with a broken arm.
