The h-word came up in the Auburn interview room today talking about the little rivalry game played by two in-state schools Saturday.
What say you Tiger defensive end Corey Lemonier?
“I’m not even from Alabama, and being here for just one year, I hate Alabama,” the sophomore from Florida told reporters.
Is that feeling shared at Alabama? Here’s how three responded this evening.
“You know, hate is a strong word,” smiling linebacker Dont’a Hightower said. “I strongly dislike Auburn. I don’t want to say I hate ’em. But I’m definitely, definitely hyped up to play these guys.”
Receiver Brandon Gibson was even more cautious.
“I’m not even going to say that word,” he said. “I don’t hate anybody. I like competition ― fierce competition. It definitely makes you work harder and become a better person. We’re just going to come out and compete on Saturday, no hate about it.”
And left tackle Barrett Jones was even less inflammatory the Gibson. He just smiled when asked if he hated Auburn.
“I’m looking forward to the game,” he said, still grinning.
