It was November basketball at its best, or sloppiest, until Alabama found its composure and a relatively easy season-opening win.
Riding its veterans, the No. 19 Crimson Tide pulled away from North Florida for a 64-44 win after snapping to form midway through the first half.
The Ospreys never could.
Making just one field goal during a span of more than 14 minutes covering both halves, the Atlantic Sun Conference school shot just 23.2 percent from the field and as 3-for-21 (14.3 percent) from 3-point range. Facing two players making at least 33 percent from the perimeter a year ago, Alabama coach Anthony Grant made extended defense a priority.
