Kindred diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma

Alabama baseball player David Kindred told the Crimson Tide that he’d been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, according to a news release issued by the school Wednesday evening.

He will begin four to six months of treatment next week after joining the team at the Atlanta Regional that starts at 2 p.m. Friday against Elon.

Kindred played in the first two games of last week’s SEC tournament in Hoover, but returned to Tuscaloosa on Friday to undergo medical tests after experiencing a shortness of breath.

According to the Mayo Clinic’s website, Hodgkin’s lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphatic system — part of the body’s immune system. According to the UA release, Kindred’s disease as “caught in the early stages and the odds for a full and complete recovery are high.”
